MAKE A DAY OF IT!
Enjoy a wonderful summer adventure! Visiting Beaver Island is a not-to-be-missed summer experience for the whole family. Get to the island via a relaxing cruise on Lake Michigan with the Beaver Island Boat Company – book at the BIBCO website – or a scenic flight with Fresh Air Aviation, reserved at their website. The ferry lands directly in the downtown area; a short shuttle ride from the airport with Charlevoix County Transit brings you to downtown St. James. The historic harbor district is entirely walkable. As you stroll the charming harbor area, browse the eclectic shops, many of whom sponsor Baroque on Beaver. If history intrigues you, Beaver Island’s rich and storied past is quite enthralling: A visit to the BI Historial Museum and the Marine Museum provide a rare insight into the Island’s heyday. After shopping, you’ll be ready to grab a bit of lunch at The Shamrock Bar & Restaurant, Daddy Franks, or the Dalwhinnie Bakery and Deli. Finally, the highlight of your visit: Spend time listening to music in this charming island setting by attending the 16th Annual Baroque on Beaver Festival, one of “Up-North’s” unique treasures. All performances are free and open to the public, but please consider a free-will donation when the music moves you.
